Vorig jaar zomer nam Wim Hupperetz (directeur Allard Pierson Museum) deel aan een MuseumCamp in Santa Cruz. Het was voor hem zo’n bijzondere en inspirerende ervaring, dat hij heel graag een MuseumCamp in Amsterdam wilde organiseren. Waar het Camp in Santa Cruz over ‘spacemaking’ ging, zou in Amsterdam de nadruk worden gelegd op het zelf maken van digitale tools om verhalen te vertellen over museale objecten. Omdat MuseumCamp aansloot bij het Digital Museum Lab, kreeg ik de vraag het project te organiseren.
En nu. We zijn een paar maanden verder. En afgelopen weekend vond inderdaad MuseumCamp Amsterdam plaats in het Allard Pierson Museum. Het was een groot succes. Maar liefst 80 makers uit verschillende landen meldden zich aan. Mensen uit de museumwereld, designers en andere creatievelingen. Met elkaar gingen zij de uitdaging om een tentoonstelling te maken in drie dagen.
In verschillende workshops verbeterden de makers hun skills, werden zij gecoacht in het bedenken van spannende tentoonstellingsconcepten en werkten zij geïnspireerd en vol passie aan hun exhibits. De sfeer was te gek. De geweldige positieve vibe leidde tot een prachtige tentoonstelling: een verzameling van spannende concepten die je triggeren om anders te kijken naar de gepresenteerde objecten.
Ik ben ontzettend blij dat wij het aan hebben gedurfd om dit spannende project te organiseren. Ik weet zeker dat het voor alle deelnemers voor inspiratie heeft gezorgd.
